A list of everything I can’t live without and things that are making a heatwave pregnancy easier
Wow, I didn’t mean to take so much time off substack, and had a couple of articles in draft form. However they’ve disappeared with the substack upgrade and so here we are! I’m starting all over again! I thought I’d kick back off with a list of everything that’s helped me during this pregnancy and things I think you’ll love too.
Marks and Spencer leather sandals
I ditched the heels a long time ago, and these incredibly reasonable leather sandals have been a wardrobe staple.
Last weekend I went on a sourcing trip to the South of France. It was a staggering 47 degrees at one of the fairs!!! I couldn’t do without this cooling water spray from Avène, which helped to keep me cooler.
A really simple day dress, with POCKETS, that is perfect for bumps, and so easy to slip on. I’ve been living in the black and khaki ones.
To say I’m obsessed is an understatement! I’m not one for fizzy drinks but this pregnancy I’ve been craving fruity and fizzy. The joy with DASH drinks is that they are sugar and sweetener free, and are a brilliant thirst quencher. I adore the grapefruit ones and have stockpiled so many that my husband asked if we were opening a bar. Adore
You can spend a fortune on a pregnancy pillow or you can pop to IKEA and get this v shaped one for £9. You can get a pillow case to cover it, and it will be perfect for the early feeding days too.
I have bought and worn the above three dresses from COS, and even wore one to a wedding with jewels and heels. Best thing about them is they’ll last well in the post- bump era too.
Clary and Peg kindly sent me a a pair of these amazing dungarees and they’ve been a lifesaver for the school run, and beach days at the weekend. Incredibly comfortable and well made.
My skin has been so dry this pregnancy, and this soothing cream from my fav Dr Hauschka has been working overtime. It’s perfect for tired legs and dry skin.
Not strictly pregnancy related, but my dog ate my prescription sunglasses (thanks Nina) so at the weekend I hot footed to Leeds to get a replacement. Whilst I was in Jimmy Fairly I was offered a free eye test and to my amazement my eyesight had actually declined. I didn’t realise this is a common occurrence in pregnancy. So I needed to replace my sunglasses and my day to day glasses too. These ones were perfect for my slightly puffy face, as they weren’t as heavy as my olds ones.
Along with the heels, I’ve dumped the bras and replaced with these really comfortable bra tops from skims. Perfect when you need some support.
Hot feet and hot legs be gone.
The heat has really made my feet and legs swell. The pop up weekend was incredibly hot and involved 12 hours stood up. These cooling foot and leg cream was perfect to soothe my hot tired feet.
Last pregnancy I loved a bikini, but this pregnancy I’m loving a swimming costume. We’re lucky to have a brilliant outdoor lido 10 minutes walk from our home and I’ve been enjoying the weightlessness pleasure that comes from swimming. I’ve bought this Hunza G black cossie which will last well into the post- bump period. Perfect fit, and incredibly comfortable.
I hope you’ve enjoyed and found the list useful. No links are affiliated, and besides the dungarees, which I would have definitely bought, I’ve purchased everting full price and truly recommend. Thanks for reading!
