How I learnt to say no, and lived the life I was meant live and things which have caught my eye this month
Saying no
A strange thing happened to me last year. In the space of a few weeks Channel 4, BBC and the Discovery Channel all got in touch to ask if I would take a role/presenter of a TV series. They wanted to come to Yorkshire to meet me and asked when could they come? A couple of the producers telephoned and as I chatted away I felt an uncontrollable urge to chuck my phone and pretend it never happened. Hesitantly I told Jacob, and he (as expected) said THIS IS GREAT, you MUST do it. By the third email he decided it was my fate and I’d be silly to turn it down. After telling a couple of pals, who also said the same sort of things like “How good would this be for Folie, you must do it” I decided to keep shtum and politely decline, and get back on with my day job. Happily.
This wasn’t the first time this has happened, and when I think of it there’s been quite a few occurrences of people trying to get me on the telly. Which is strange since I spent about 8 years not even owning one, and now I do own one I rarely
