I adore vintage lighting. I just can’t think of any modern designs that come close to what key Italian designers were producing in the mid century. Companies like Stilnovo, Fontana Arte, Stilux, and their use of glass, brass, coloured metals just make me happy. And even better that the distinct signs of age only heighten the beauty of each pieces. Lighting is something that shouldn’t be scrimped on. It’s a key component to any room. A central light, whether one actually turns it on or not, goes beyond its practicalities, it’s there to ground the room. A centre piece to marvel upon.
